Concealed Permit

I am thinking of getting the concealed permit for my state(FL), but with all the scary stuff about guns being taken away from us possibly, I am a little nervous that doing so would have me listed and easy to track down if the time came. Any thoughts on this?

I wouldn't worry about a pistol ban - as in - if they are banning pistols we got bigger problems.

I don't like any paperwork in relation to guns, but in this case it is a must if you want to carry. I'm planning to get mine as well.

I had the same reservations and started talking to people about CCW. I came to find that there are a whole pile of people in WY that have a CCW which, induced me to think that I should join the numbers just so they would have some concept of how many people are armed and how much trouble it would be to disarm us. I've never seen a statistic on the matter but I think it is safe to assume that 75% of the households in the low population western states have at least one firearm.

I have quite a problem: I flatly refuse to register any firearm or get any sort of permit. I don't need anybody's permission to exercise a right, and I don't need to notify anybody that I am doing so. So I only buy guns from private persons, and I don't carry anything concealed.

There is no sense getting into a fight you can't win. And any time you get your name on a registry, that is what you have done.

I fully agree with your line of thinking........

But my feelings are I would get the CCW just for simple fact I dont have to worry about explaining myself if If I have a run in with the law.

When the smoke clears You are correct............ I probally am on a "master list " somewhere but if you show up at my house in black jump suits in full tactical gear (and I didnt do anything wrong )Well I know the roundup/copnfiscation are begining and it is GAME ON

YOU WANT IT .......COME AND TAKE IT.

The training for the CCW permit is worth the time, even if you decide not to get the permit. That said, Florida is one of the easiest states to get a permit in I know of for non residents.

Forget about being on a list, most people are anyway and are not aware that they are. Big Brother knows.

I chose a Florida permit over my home state because the FL permit is good in most of the states I travel in and my home state's isn't. All a permit is, is just another form of taxation.

Ohio had one of the best concealed laws I know of before they decided to tax us by making a CCW law. It was called the "prudent man" law, but so few people understood it and wanted a CCW law (tax) with all the restrictions attached. Before the change, I carried with confidence any time I felt it was the prudent thing to do, after the change it became illegal for me to do so any longer, so, I had to get a permit (tax).

Yup, it is your right all right... *LOL*

That statement is so ridiculous I had to stop laughing before I could type.

Why don't you carry out in the open walking in downtown West Palm Beach, FL.?
Put your money where your mouth is? Hell, I will even buy you a plane ticket to PBI airport! NO JOKE!
Hey it must be your right to carry on a plane also?!
Your narrow ass with be under arrest and locked up downtown so fast you won't know what hitcha! You will be covered in 220 pound green objects we like to call "Deputies". It might be your Right, but at the end of the day, you will be sharing a cell with some of our scummier citizens.

The smart money is on a CCW permit. You will have to get fingerprinted, but if you have ever been printed before, you are already in the system. If you have ever bought a gun from a dealer, your already in the system. In FL it is pretty fast and easy all things considered.

Carrying without a permit? Open or concealed? Unless you are in your car or house, Forget it. If they come for the guns, just say you sold it 4 months ago to some guy at a party, for cash, less than what you paid for it. Problem solved.

I STRONGLY URGE every person in FL who wants to carry concealed to buy and read "Florida Gun Laws 6th Edition". It is easy to read, written to be understood.

Twist, we have dissagreed before on things, but I feel you are SPOT ON with your thinking here! There won't be any 'splainin' in FL if anyone is caught with a gun (carrying) and they don't have a permit. There will be an AUTOMATIC trip to the local pokey.
Who needs it? Even if the Judge lets you go, you NOW have an arrest record for firearms. A TREMENDOUS PAIN IN THE ASS if you now want a CCW permit.
